I approached Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant about creating a chalk mural in their entrance. They didn’t have any art there and were pretty open to whatever I created. I love lettering and wanted to display some fun variations. I’m glad I didn’t get too detailed because the chalk board was painted over the plaster wall and was quite rough. For intricate detail in chalk art, a smooth board is essential. However, I am pleased with the amount of the detail I was able to achieve.
The clients wanted an agave plant to highlight their large (over 60) brands of tequila they offer. Also requested was some tequila brand logos near the bottom. The zigzag shelf is used to display the many bottles of tequila at the entrance.
I hope that this is the first of many chalk murals
Laying down the outline
Without the LED lighting. Getting the tequila brand logos was important since that is their specialty
The LED lighting really changed how the colors pop out
Getting the spacing was important. I knew the bottles would obscure a large portion and the zigzag shelving broke up space also. The owners wanted to replace the Cerveza with info on their upcoming tequila master class. A last minute edition is a giant agave plant that spreads out. The owners of the restaurant are passionate about tequila so this is a perfect addition and added beautiful color.
